WoodStone® Garden Dormouse Nest Box

Sadly, due to a loss of ancient woodland and changes in land management practices, Garden Dormouse populations are in decline across Europe. Although measuring 10-15cm – larger than Hazel Dormice – Garden Dormice are rarely seen out in the open; however, they will use specialist nest boxes as a safe place to raise their young.

The Garden Dormouse Nest Box has a round 45 mm entrance hole, specially designed for this species. The entrance hole faces the tree, as Garden Dormice climb trees to search for suitable nesting sites. This also prevents birds from using the nest box.

Made of WoodStone®, a unique blend of concrete and wood fibres, the nest box has several benefits to give young Garden Dormice the best chance of survival. The material provides a consistent temperature inside the nest box while remaining breathable, preventing moisture from building up inside.

Hang your nest box no higher than 1.5 metres on a tree trunk with the entrance hole facing the tree, and ideally during winter.
