About the 'Beleef de Lente' Project
The live webcams are provided thanks to the generous support of the Vogelbescherming Netherlands project 'Beleef de Lente' (you can spot the organization’s emblem in the broadcasts). Throughout the spring, the project receives backing from donations and volunteer efforts.
Camera temporarily suspended until 2025. We look forward to welcoming you back to next year's breeding season!
Spoonbills are a waterbird, they are white in colour with long dark legs, a black bill with a yellow tip and a yellow breast patch. Whilst in flight they fly with both necks and legs extended, and in the water they feed with elegant sideward sweeps of their bill.
Their diet consists of aquatic insects, molluscs, newts, worms, leeches, frogs, tadpoles and small fish.
The female will lay a clutch of about 3 eggs, and both parents will take it in turns to incubate. The chicks will hatch one at a time.
